Bosch Expands Horizons in Africa

One of Bosch Holdings audacious goals aimed at achieving the Vision of being “A world class Engineering and Operations group that provides innovative solutions globally” is to grow the business’s turnover and source at least 50% of this increased turnover offshore. To-date Bosch has undertaken projects in over 4S countries globally, of which 20 are on the African continent.

Africa, and specifically East Africa, has been identified as a key strategic growth area until at least 2030 and beyond and in this context. the Bosch East Arica Kenya office opened its doors just over 3 years ago. Under the leadership of Gary Barlow. Bosch have now established an excellent sustainable business foothold in Nairobi.

Current Bosch East Africa projects include the Finlays Tea effluent treatment plant, the Fumba development in Zanzibar and the Mombasa Wastewater Master Plan. Renewable energy opportunities in the form of biomass to energy are also on the cards.

Mining Infrastructure in Mozambique also forms part of Bosch’s Africa portfolio, Bosch Munitech’s major project successes in Botswana include the current refurbishment of the Mmamashia Water Treatment Plant and the North South Carrier Pump station PS3, and this on top of Bosch Projects recently commissioned award winning Nakambala product alignment and refinery project for Zambia Sugar have cast the spotlight on Bosch’s African activities.

An important element of operating successfully in Africa is to have a local presence and to establish local partners. Accordingly, Bosch companies have been established both in Botswana and in Zambia.

Tanzania is now firmly on the Bosch radar with its good risk profile, positive political dynamic and economic growth prospects. Bosch Holdings is eying building on this together with an established local track record in the Sugar industry, which goes back more than 1S years. Sectors with potential include Sugar and Sugar Equipment, Agriculture/Irrigation. Buildings and Developments, Water and Wastewater and Renewable Energy and these are conveniently aligned with the Bosch basket of services.
