Transnet Port Terminals sponsored two emerging enterprises with vehicles as part of their Singakwenza Kwenzeke Initiative.
This initiative focussed on the development of black women in the engineering sector/industry and is managed and facilitated by Bosch Ulwazi (Pty) Ltd.
Zanele Dlamini, MD of ZD Project Management, focuses on providing project management services in the engineering field and waste collection services. She was very excited when she received the truck at a handover ceremony at Bosch Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
Zanele explained that she used to hire a truck to perform the waste collection duties and that the truck was very small. With her new truck it will be easy to collect large amounts of waste at once. ZD Project Management handles waste collection and disposal in Sections F, G and H of Umlazi.
ZD Project Management has secured a 3 year contract with Durban Municipality. Her company has now increased its workforce, employing 30 new people, 50% of whom are women.
Transnet and Bosch Projects, who is the other sponsor company, provided the financing for the deposit on the truck.
Shireen Sayed is the MD of Aspire Project Management and she has international project management exposure. Aspire started with an office in Durban and has since expanded to Gauteng.
Initially the business relied on Shireen’s personal vehicle for the businesses operational needs. The purchase of a bakkie has released Shireen to focus on growing her business and the new vehicle is used for the day-to-day operational requirements of the business.
Transnet and Bosch Stemele, who is the other sponsor company, assisted with the deposit for the bakkie.
Shireen is also mentored by Mrs Danai Magugumela, the MD of Bosch Stemele.
The keys to the vehicles were handed over by Ms Ntombeziningi Shezi the Procurement Director from Transnet Port Terminals.
